My girlfriend has a white dumpy tree frog and for the past few days he has been kind of sluggish ... now his legs aren't turning red, they are turning white. What could this mean?

Hello:

My son has a new Whites Tree Frog called "Froggy". Froggy is lovely, a very nice dark green with beautiful white spots. We have set up his (24" wide x 21" H x 12' D) tank in the following way:

*Sphagnum Moss covered by
*Zilla Jungle Mix
*Large water/swim bowl, with distilled water
*Two indoor mist thriving plants
*Two logs for hiding
*One large branch for climbing (so far)
*We've just added a 75 watt heat lamp
*We mist 2x - 3x daily with distilled water

We've had a Froggy six days and he has not eaten one cricket. I am very worried. His skin appears a bit darker. The store we bought him from (an independent store which specializes in reptiles, amphibians, and fish) seems to think he needs more time to adjust to his new surroundings. Still, six days and no food seems like a long time.
It's not all bad as the crickets are thrving.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Kind Regards,

THATkidsmom :)

If your white tree frog is hungry, you will know! Put a few small crickets in the habitat and see what happens. If they frog is hungry, he will pounce all over the food. If he is not hungry, he will show limited interest or none at all. Be careful not to overfeed your frog. Whites tree frogs have a reputation for eating non-stop if you allow them to!

The Crickets have to go, I have about 20 large crickets in a kricket keeper and they have maged to get their body half way out, past the tubes, into my room, this is after 2 massive escape attempts. If i put the calcium on them, can ifeed my dumpy only meal worms?

If your going to keep more than one frog in a cage make sure they are of the same breed, size and sex. Unless you want to breed them. When you buy them at commercial pet shops like pet supermarket they tend to be malnurished. Just keep feeding them fresh meal worms, waxworms and crickets everyother day amd make sure their cage is clean amd free of chemicals. Because the are malnurished they are prone to parasites and infections. Also watch out for red-leg. They're legs will literally turn red on the bottom. If that is the case they will probably die, cause of death: malnurished. As far as knowing how many to feed them depends on the size and condition of the frog. Usually a 3in frog, like mine, eats about 10 meal worms every two days. Or I get a dozen large crickets and dump him in his cage and they are gone in about 3-4 days.
