I am about to purchase two white's tree frogs, and I had some questions about housing. Can they live in extremely high temp areas, like mid 90's? Also, I was going to get two frogs, so would a 18x18x24 be sufficient? Any help would be really great! Thanks!

Dear Kathy,
I have a 20 gallon tank that i have a red foot tortoise in. He mainly hangs tight in his end of the tank. I recently wanted to know if it is okay to put a WTF in the tank as well. I am planning on upgrading to a 40 gallon tank. I have a large water pool and it is shallow. The humidity and temperature resembles the one that WTFs need. I consulted with a petsmart associate and did research online and they both said it should be fine to do. I wanted to know what your thoughts are since i have never had a WTF before. There is a lot of plants (fake ones) that are tall and lots of greenery. I am using Cypress mulch on the ground which is hard to ingest if he/she tried to do. I am constantly monitoring both animals in the tank and they seem to leave each other alone. I have a Fogger that is controlled to release mist into the tank at certain times of the day. My only concern at this time is how to get him/her to eat. I bought a separate container specialized for WTF to eat in. I am feeding him mealworms(live) at the moment. Please let me know what you think because i really need some insight. Thanks!

Im not sure what type of lighting to buy & the purpose of it. I heard WTF's need uvb light and a heat light, is this true? also I have seen alot of chubby WTF's on the internet. Is this healthy? I want to keep my frog lean & mean but i dont want to starve the frog if its ment to be chubby.

Have a WTF for about 17 years, the same one. Here is the website I found most helpful to all the questions. I change his enviroment out every couple of years. He is a happy frog. I feed him one time a week, a pinkie or crickets. sometimes mealworms. they can eat moths, beetles too. Hope this helps. Kathy

I copied and pasted this info on how to know the male from the female. Found in on a web site.

One commonly asked question has to do with how to tell Male White's tree Frogs from Female ones. As far as I know this is pretty difficult to tell. First of all,the frog frog needs to be of "breeding" age to tell (about 1 year old). Males develop "nuptial pads" (puffy little pads on the place where their "thumbs" and "palms" meet) during the breeding season. I have heard from some that only males croak and sing also. Also, females tend to be larger than males, but bear in mind that size varies according to specific strains of White's tree frogs, so this is a pretty unreliable test.
